Why Should YOU Attend CORE?
Second semester is beginning and this comes with all new opportunities to get involved with CSRS.
CORE 2018, the flagship CSRS event of the year, is the largest undergraduate-run CSR conference in Canada. What can you expect? Expect two days with a whirlwind of keynotes, workshops, networking, and best of all; good food!
In the fall semester, we focused on providing you with everything necessary to have the best CORE experience. There was our Networking Workshop, where KPMG representatives taught members the basics of making a great first impression and how to form a connection. We also hosted a Case Comp Essentials Workshop, where Risham and Alex broke down the process for perfecting a case competition. At the end of November, we had our CSRSymposium, a great preparation for CORE as we had a panelist of CSR professionals and a networking session afterwards.
All of these events have prepared delegates for what the CORE Conference is all about. Day 1 entails a two keynote speakers, a think tank challenge, and networking with our first group of representatives. The keynote will introduce delegates to the world of CSR as it applies to to both HP and WWF. The think tank activity will challenge delegates to consider an CSR-based issue and provide a solution. At the end of the night, we will wrap up with a networking cocktail. Speak to representatives who work in the industry and who can give you insight into what CSR entails. Don’t hesitate to grab some business cards and form connections! Day 1 will be at the Schulich School of Business and will take place in the evening.
Day 1 will just be a taste of what happens on Day 2, our full day downtown at the Renaissance Toronto Downtown Hotel! Join us as we begin the day with a keynote from UPS and a panelist session from many others! The networking lunch is a great, relaxed environment for delegates to sit down and eat lunch with a representative at every table! The afternoon includes a career fair with recruiters and representatives, as well as a rotation of workshop presentations from KPMG, Telus, IBM and Impact Capitalyst. We will wind down our time at the Renaissance Toronto with our Sustain & Gain Case Competition presentations and our last keynote. Day 2 will end with a networking dinner at the Hot house where we bring representatives and delegates together to network and eat!
In addition to all the amazing experiences you will gain from CORE, you will make new friends, new connections, learn new skills, and gain insight on the constantly changing field of CSR. Since CSR is applicable to all areas of business, CORE 2018 will provide delegates with connections from a variety of companies whether that be accounting, finance, marketing, CSR, technology, or much more.
